How Can severe Cold In A Child Be Treated?

I have had a cold for about 2.5 months and I am still blowing my nose about 2-3 times per day but it is clear. I found yesterday a piece of skin connected inside my nose so I cut it. I have never had a piece of skin partially hang out of my nose before. Why did this happen?
